Matthiola (Matthiola R.Br.) – a decorative garden plant known for its bright aroma and variety of colors. The "HOLIDAY" option belongs to summer varieties, the height of which reaches 35 cm, and the flower has a pink tint. The plant prefers a light place, well-lit soil with good drainage capacity and moderate humidity.
Seeds of Matthiola "HOLIDAY" are sown in April after the threat of frost at a depth of 0.5–1 cm. The distance between sowings is 20–25 cm, which provides sufficient space for root system development and full flowering. After the appearance of two seed leaves, picking is carried out: seedlings are transplanted into pots or cups with a removable bottom, while carefully handling the roots.
Caring for the plant is simple: moderate watering (better from a spray bottle), maintaining a temperature of 12–15 °C at the germination stage, loosening the soil and regular feeding. Matthiola tolerates light frosts down to 2–3 °C, but it is better to protect it from strong wind loads. Flowering begins in July-August and can last for 15–20 days with proper care. Thanks to its decorative appearance and aroma, Matthiola "HOLIDAY" is ideal for decorating balconies, verandas, flower beds and flower gardens.
