Lettuce SIILICE

Reliable Yields with Butterhead Lettuce

When selecting a variety for intensive production, especially in greenhouse conditions or early spring sowings, reliability is the key factor. The "Silice" variety from Monsanto (developed by Monsanto Holland B. V.) is a proven performer that forgives many minor cultivation mistakes.

Agronomic Health and Resistance

Downy mildew and Lettuce Mosaic Virus are the biggest challenges in salad production. "Silice" offers robust resistance to both, allowing for a significant reduction in fungicide applications. This is not only a cost-saving measure but also ensures a cleaner, higher-quality product for the fresh market, which is a major advantage for modern consumers.

Key Specifications

• Type: Butterhead lettuce.
• Mass: Produces large, dense heads that hold up well during transport.
• Structure: A compact yet voluminous rosette, maximizing yield per square meter.

The uniformity of the crop during harvest is a standout feature. Plants mature synchronously, meaning you can harvest the maximum amount of marketable produce in a single pass. The leaves have that classic buttery texture that customers love, yet they remain firm enough to withstand handling.

Why Choose Silice?

If you need a variety that won't fail under pressure and will look as fresh on the supermarket shelf as it did in the field, this Dutch-bred Monsanto variety is the right choice. It is a true workhorse: it requires minimal maintenance after planting and guarantees consistent profitability due to the large, uniform weight of every head.
