Lettuce Othilie

Stable production with Rijk Zwaan

When selecting planting material for professional Batavian lettuce cultivation, the priority is always the balance between growth rate and crop resilience. Otili, developed by the Dutch seed house Rijk Zwaan, offers a predictable performance, which is essential for intensive farming schedules.

Agronomic performance and plant health

The key advantage of this variety is its robust disease resistance. It exhibits strong tolerance to downy mildew, internal tip burn, and lettuce mosaic virus. For a farm manager, this translates into lower fungicide expenses and significantly reduced waste during harvest. The light green color of the leaves remains consistent even during temperature fluctuations, ensuring high marketability.

Cultivation and management

With a recommended density of 90,000–100,000 plants per hectare, the variety develops uniform heads of medium mass, making logistics and packing much easier. Its early maturity allows for a continuous harvest cycle, critical for maintaining profitability throughout the season. Otili responds well to standard nitrogen fertilization and irrigation, but its natural vigor allows it to withstand minor deviations in management without sacrificing yield quality.
