Lettuce Silvinas

Silvinas lettuce is an early head lettuce variety of the Iceberg type, developed by the Dutch breeding company Rijk Zwaan. This variety is highly versatile in cultivation — suitable for year-round growing both in open ground and under cover, using either seed or transplant methods. The vegetative period ranges from 65 to 85 days, allowing for relatively quick harvest. Heads are round-oval in shape, with a dense internal structure and weigh up to 500 grams. Leaves are bright green, entire, with prominent veins, juicy and crisp, making them especially appealing to consumers.

One of the key advantages of the Silvinas variety is its high resistance to unfavorable growing conditions. The plant has a strong root system and is resistant to problems such as leaf burn, powdery mildew, bolting, and internal scorching. Thanks to these qualities, the lettuce retains its market appearance and flavor even after long-term storage and transportation. This makes it popular on fresh markets and suitable for use in salad lines and processing.

Silvinas is widely used in cooking for preparing vitamin-rich, dietetic, and vegetarian dishes. The recommended planting density is 10-12 plants per square meter, ensuring optimal growth and development. Due to its low maintenance, high productivity, and excellent transportability, this variety is an excellent choice for both commercial cultivation and personal use.
