Description Sugar Beet / Starmon
Sugar beet variety Starmon is a mid-season (105-130 days) high-yielding semi-sweet variety with white, juicy flesh and increased dry matter content (12.5-14%) and sugar. The roots are oval-cylindrical in shape, with part of them located above ground, facilitating mechanized and manual harvest. The variety is characterized by high root yield — 1000-1100 centners per hectare, as well as significant leaf yield — 330-380 centners per hectare. Due to its shallow root furrow, the roots are almost not contaminated with soil, improving product quality.

Starmon has high resistance to cracking and diseases such as cercosporosis and yellow virus, as well as good storability and transportability. The variety is drought-resistant and suitable for cultivation on poor soils. Roots and leaves can be stored until late spring at temperatures from +0.5 to +4 °C, allowing long-term use for feed purposes. Recommended sowing period — mid-April to early May, with seeding rate of 18-20 kg/ha and seed depth of 2-4 cm depending on soil type.

For optimal growth and yield, the best preceding crops are cucumbers, early potatoes, and cabbage, which were fertilized with organic fertilizers. Root depth of 60% allows for mechanical harvesting after preliminary cutting of the tops. Seed packaging is done in 20-kilogram bags. The Starmon variety is widely used in animal husbandry as a reliable source of feed due to its high agronomic and technological characteristics.
