SURSKAYA

The hemp variety «Surskaya» is a hybrid of middle-Russian hemp developed by the Penza Research Institute of Agriculture. It is included in the State Register of the Russian Federation and recommended for cultivation in all zones of middle-Russian hemp culture. The plant is monoecious, with a green stem reaching about 247 cm in height and 7 mm in diameter, with 9 internodes. Leaves and petioles are also green, flowers have a greenish-yellow tint, and fruits are light gray. Seeds are round, light gray with a faint pattern; the mass of 1000 seeds is 17.9 g. The vegetative period to technical maturity lasts 97 days, and to full seed maturity — 115 days. The yield of the «Surskaya» variety is high: stems reach 85.6 c/ha, fiber content is 29.5%, with a tensile strength of 27.2 kgf and linear density of 23.7 tex. Seed yield varies within 8.4 c/ha. The variety is characterized by resistance to lodging (5 points) and shattering (4 points), and is weakly affected by gray mold, which enhances its reliability during cultivation. It is suitable for mechanized harvesting and recommended for dual-sided use, allowing efficient utilization of both fiber and seeds. «Surskaya» is suitable for intensive cultivation technologies with the application of complex fertilizers. The tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content in the plant is low — from 0.04% to 0.06%, which corresponds to industrial variety requirements. Due to its characteristics, the variety is widely used in the food industry, textile production, and construction materials. High seed and fiber quality makes «Surskaya» in demand in international trade and processing, confirming its significance in the agricultural sector.
