OMEGADAR 1

OMEGADAR 1 — monoecious hemp (Cannabis sativa L. ssp. sativa) variety of the southern group, developed at the Krasnodar Research Institute of Agriculture named after P.P. Lukyanenko. It is recommended for dual use in the Krasnodar Territory and for growing on green manure in the middle zone of Russia. The vegetation period of the variety is about 107 days to technical maturity and 135-140 days to complete seed ripening. The weight of 1000 seeds reaches 18.8–19.0 g, while the content of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) ranges from 0.01 to 0.057 %, which makes the variety completely non-narcotic and safe for industrial application.

The variety is distinguished by high productivity: stems — from 100 to 150 c/ha, fiber — 44–50 c/ha with a fiber content of 29–30 % and the yield of long fiber about 23 %. The seed yield varies from 5.0 to 12.2 c/ha, and the oil content in the seeds is 31.0–32.0 %. Due to its high oil content and optimal ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, oil from Omeagad 1 seeds is valued in the food and medical industries. The breaking load of the fiber reaches 30.4 kgsf, which indicates its strength.

The variety is resistant to major diseases such as fusarium, septoria, and gray stem spot, ensuring stable yields. Sowing rates range from 7.0 to 50.0 kg/ha, allowing the cultivation technology to be adapted to various conditions. Omeagad 1 is suitable for both obtaining oil raw materials and producing fiber, although the fiber yield is lower than that of specialized fibrous varieties.
