Description VALISA
The potato variety Valisa is a mid-early German selection with a maturation period of 65-80 days. The plant is tall, intermediate type, varying from semi-upright to spreading. Leaves are light green, medium-sized with weak serrated edges, flowers and corollas are medium-sized and white. Tubers are oval-round in shape with small eyes, skin varies from medium to rough and is yellow, matching the flesh. Marketable tuber mass ranges from 60 to 128 grams, with 8-12 tubers per plant. The Valisa variety is characterized by high market yield, reaching 219-288 centners per hectare in the Central Chernozem region, up to a maximum of 300 centners per hectare, matching the Nevsky standard. In the Volga region, yield varies from 172 to 241 centners per hectare, 110 centners higher than the Post 86 standard, with maximum yield reaching 384 centners per hectare, significantly exceeding the Nevsky standard. Starch content in tubers ranges from 13.9% to 17.4%, 2.4-2.9% higher than the Nevsky standard, providing good taste and culinary type BC, suitable for soups, frying, boiling, and baking. Marketability of the variety is 78-96%, and storage life reaches 93%. A distinctive feature of the Valisa variety is its resistance to potato cancer pathogen and golden potato cyst nematode (Rо1), enhancing its value for cultivation and processing. Resistance to late blight in the variety is below average to average. The Valisa potato is especially valued for its uniform tubers and suitability for producing dried potato products. The breeder of the variety is the company Norika Nordring-Kartoffelzucht-Und Vermehhrungs-GMBH (Germany), and the patent is held by Norex Norika Exportgesellschaft MBH.
