Description SOKOLSKY
The potato variety Sokolsky is a medium-maturing table variety of Russian selection with a maturity period of 80-95 days. Plants are tall, semi-erect with numerous stems and moderately leafy leaves. Inflorescences are spreading, multi-flowered with a red-purple corolla. Tubers are oval-round in shape with a blunt apex and flat stolon scar, with medium-thick red skin and white flesh with a creamy tint. Eyes are numerous, small, and uncolored. Marketable tuber mass ranges from 62 to 120 grams, and the number of tubers per plant is 9-13.

The variety is characterized by stable and high yield, averaging 168-260 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 374 centners in the Lipetsk region, significantly exceeding standard values. Starch content in tubers ranges from 12.4% to 18.1%, meeting the standard. Marketability of potatoes is high — from 76% to 98%, and storability reaches 92%. Flavor qualities are good, making the variety suitable for various cooking methods: boiling, frying, baking, and making mashed potatoes.

The Sokolsky variety is resistant to potato late blight (pathotype I), however, it is susceptible to golden nematode and moderately susceptible to Phytophthora. Due to its characteristics and disease resistance, the variety is recommended for cultivation in the Central Chernozem and Far Eastern regions. Main advantages of the variety — stable yield, uniform tubers, and good flavor qualities, making it attractive for table use.
