Description Asterix
Potato variety Asterix — a medium-late table variety of Dutch origin, intended for those who prefer fluffy and tasty potatoes. The vegetation period is about 110-120 days, and the harvest can be collected on day 110-120 after planting. Tubers have an elongated-oval shape, red skin, and light-yellow flesh. The average tuber weight varies from 64 to 120 grams, and the number of tubers per plant reaches 11-14 pieces. The starch content is within 14.3-17%, providing a medium-fluffy texture ideal for boiling, frying, and making chips. The potato flavor is distinctive and pleasant, and the flesh does not change color when boiled.

The variety is characterized by high yield — up to 27 tons per hectare, which corresponds to approximately 3 kg per plant. Plants are tall and upright with red-purple flowers. Asterix is drought-resistant and exhibits good resistance to several diseases, including potato scab, late blight, fusarium, and potato nematode. However, the variety has moderate susceptibility to leaf curl virus and phytophthora, and strong susceptibility to virus Y. The tuber storability is excellent — up to 95%, allowing for long-term storage under cool conditions without loss of quality.

Potato Asterix has low fat content (about 0.1%) and moderate caloric value (approximately 77 kcal per 100 g), making it a healthy and easily digestible product. Due to its versatility and resistance to adverse conditions, this variety is suitable for both home cultivation and commercial production, ensuring a stable and high-quality yield with excellent taste characteristics.
