Baronessa cabbage is an old-time late variety, created based on cabbage brought in the 1700s from St. Petersburg. This variety is distinguished by enormous head sizes and weights, reaching about 30 cm in diameter and weighing up to 6.8 kg, and even more under favorable conditions. The heads have a small stalk and consist of many thin, tender, and tightly packed leaves covered with pale green wrappers that protect the juicy interior.
Baronessa has a sweet and soft taste, making it universal in application. It is excellent for fresh consumption and is also great for pickling due to its natural sweetness. Moreover, this variety is distinguished by a long storage period — up to 6-7 months, during which the cabbage retains its taste and color.
For successful cultivation of the Baronessa variety, it is recommended to leave about 1.2 meters of free space between plants, as well as provide regular fertilization and watering, as cabbage needs good care. Thanks to its large size, excellent taste qualities, and versatility of use, this variety is one of the tastiest and largest among white cabbages.
