Description ZHINAIDA LUCHNIK
Zhinaida Luchnik is a Japanese iris belonging to the 'Japanese' group and included in the register of plants allowed in Russia in 2017. The plant reaches a height of 45 to 60 cm, has narrow olive-green leaves of medium length, and sturdy flower stems with side branches. Usually, 4–6 inflorescences form on one plant, each containing two bright purple flowers.

The flowers of the Zhinaida Luchnik iris have a six-petal shape: short and wide petals with a diameter of about 4.5 cm vertically and 11 cm horizontally. The outer tepal consists of four or more segments, round and widest, with a white background and a bright purple blurry central vein, while the inner tepal consists of three segments, also white with a purple pattern. The pistil lobes of medium length are colored bright purple. There is no aroma, but the flowers do not shed and their color does not fade.

The variety is characterized by high resistance to diseases and pests, good transportability, heat resistance, and winter hardiness, making it ideal for greening in the middle lane of Russia. The flowering period is about 15 days, and the iris opens its bright inflorescences in early to mid-season. Thanks to its decorative qualities and practical advantages, Zhinaida Luchnik is popular among gardeners seeking to add elegant and reliable Japanese irises to their landscape.
