Tolmachevsky iris is a mid-season flowering variety with a height of about 65–75 cm, distinguished by its bright and saturated flower coloration. The plant's leaves have a moderately olive-green hue, of medium length and width, which gives the bush a harmonious appearance in combination with large flowers.
The flower stalks of this variety reach 70–80 cm in height and possess a double form: a lilac-blue base with dark veins. Each flower has a six-petal structure, a vertical diameter of about 5 cm, and a horizontal one of 13–14 cm. The outer perianth is round, widely spreading, saturated purple with a soft pleated texture; the central vein is diffuse, and in the center, there is a small flame-like spot with a glossy greenish-yellow shade. The inner perianth consists of reduced, inversely lanceolate segments of light purple color without a pattern.
The variety is characterized by high heat tolerance and winter hardiness, as well as good resistance to adverse weather conditions, diseases, and pests. The flowering period lasts 15–20 days, during which one or two bright flowers open simultaneously, creating a striking visual accent against the backdrop of green leaves.
