Spartan is a large-flowered bearded iris reaching heights of 50 to 70 cm, quickly attaining its maximum growth thanks to a robust root system. The flowers feature ruffled petals in a deep burgundy shade with bright white or silver beards, sometimes imparting a metallic sheen. The flower diameter ranges from 12–14 cm, reaching up to 17 cm in some specimens, making them especially noticeable against other plants.
This variety is distinguished by its early and prolonged flowering period, as well as high resistance to diseases and unfavorable weather conditions. Spartan thrives in full sunlight and well-drained soil; moderate watering is particularly important during active growth. Complex fertilizers are recommended in spring to maintain flower vibrancy and plant strength.
Iris Spartan is also known for its hardiness, allowing it to survive winter in open ground without additional protection. After flowering, it is useful to cut off withered flower stalks to maintain a tidy appearance. Thanks to a combination of rich color, large size, and pest resistance, Spartan becomes an excellent choice for decorative garden compositions.
