BERENDEY

The Iris 'Berendei' is a compact shrub reaching 60–70 cm in height, with flower stalks extending up to 70 cm. The leaves are long, measuring 25 to 65 cm, but narrow – about 1.4 cm wide, creating a delicate and elegant plant structure.

The flowers of this variety are simple, with a diameter of 10–11 cm and a height of 8.5–9 cm. The inner segments are dark purple, the outer ones are also dark purple, while the lower part is painted light brown with lilac veins and a white signal stripe. Each flower stalk typically bears two flowers, with a total of 28–36 flower stalks per shrub. Blooming begins in mid-June (15–25 June) and lasts 10–12 days.

'Berendei' is cold-hardy, so it is considered winter-hardy. The plant is easily propagated vegetatively, making it a popular choice for gardening and decorative compositions thanks to its bright coloration and reliability in various climatic conditions.
