The cotton variety "LIMA" belongs to the species Gossypium hirsutum L. and is characterized by medium height, a conical plant shape with palmate leaves. The leaves possess gossypol glands and nectararies, while the petals are cream-colored. The capsule is of medium size, oval-shaped, with a short pedicel and strong dehiscence, which promotes good air circulation inside the capsule.
Inside the capsule, there is a medium amount of raw cotton (lint) – 5.8 g per capsule. The fiber is long and strong: fiber length is 28 mm, staple length is 35.8 mm, breaking strength is 33.5 N, linear density is 143 tex. Fibroin is medium, type – 5. Overall raw cotton yield reaches 25.0 c/ha, and with home freezing collection – 83 %. Fiber yield is 44.5 %.
The variety's vegetative period lasts 130 days, during which the plant showed no signs of disease. It is recommended for cultivation in zones with an active temperature sum not lower than 32,000 °C. Due to high fiber quality and yield indicators, "LIMA" is suitable for both industrial fabric production and high-quality textiles.
