Christmas amaryllis is a large plant growing to a height of 45 to 55 cm with pure white flowers about 20 cm in diameter and a green center, which blooms quickly within 6-12 weeks after planting. The bulb reaches 35-40 cm, making it ideal as a gift: it can contain two or three scapes, each bearing several large flowers.
For home growing, do not plant the bulb deeper than two-thirds into the substrate and ensure good drainage. After the active growth period, reduce watering from July to September and place the plant in a cool, dark place for several months to give it a "rest". If desired, the bulb can be planted in outdoor soil during the summer – it tolerates fresh air well.
Amaryllis is excellent for decorating a festive table or as a gift to friends. Its fragrant scent and large white flowers create a festive atmosphere in any room. Thanks to its unpretentious nature, the plant can even give a second bloom in summer with proper care.
