Hazelnut variety 'Raketnyi' is a medium-late and productive variety developed by the Ukrainian Research Institute of Forestry and Agroforestry named after R. M. Vysotsky. The bushes of this variety are vigorous, reaching heights of 3 to 4.5 meters and crown diameters of 3-4 meters, with a compact crown. Leaves are green and slightly hairy. 'Raketnyi' is distinguished by high winter hardiness and drought resistance, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions, especially in low-lying areas. The nuts of the 'Raketnyi' variety have an elongated shape and are borne in clusters of 3-7 nuts. The average nut mass is about 2.2 grams. The shell is light-brown, glossy, and thin, facilitating easy shelling. The kernel is cream-colored, elongated, has an excellent taste, and easily separates from the membrane when roasted. The kernel yield is approximately 49-50% of the total nut weight. The kernel contains 64% oil and 16% protein, making it a nutritious and beneficial product. Under proper storage conditions, the nuts retain their flavor for up to three years. 'Raketnyi' is characterized by stable and moderate yield, amounting to approximately 5 kg of dry nuts per 10-year-old plant. The variety is propagated by root suckers, as well as vertical and horizontal layering, although its root-forming ability is below average. The variety is suitable for stem culture, where it exhibits increased yield. The fruits ripen in the third decade of August, allowing them to be used fresh or for long-term storage and processing.
