The Chocolate hazelnut variety is a tall plant with spreading branches, reaching a height of about 4-5 meters. This variety is highly cold-resistant and can withstand temperatures as low as -37 degrees, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions. The plant is not particular about soil type, which simplifies its cultivation.
The flowering period for the Chocolate variety occurs in February to April, while the harvest ripens at the end of August to the first half of September. The yield of this variety reaches up to 7 kg per bush, which is a good indicator for hazelnuts. The nuts form in clusters of 2-4 pieces, each nut enclosed in a highly wrinkled shell.
The nuts of the Chocolate variety have an elongated shape and dark brown color. Their shells are dense, and the nut size is approximately 2 cm. The kernel constitutes about 50% of the fruit's weight and has a high fat content — 69.8%, which gives the nuts a rich flavor and nutritional value.
