Guar VAVILOVSKY 130

Genetic Potential and Specialization

The "Vavilovsky 130" variety is the outcome of intensive breeding by the Vavilov All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources. The culture belongs to the guar category (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba), a drought-resistant legume prized for its unique seed chemistry. In challenging climatic conditions, this variety is selected specifically for its resilience to water stress.

Technological Usage Profile

• Forage Base: The green mass and the meal obtained after processing guar seeds are rich in protein. Incorporating "Vavilovsky 130" into livestock and poultry diets helps replace expensive protein concentrates, while the guar gum found in the endosperm supports healthy digestive function in animals.
• Honey Potential: During the flowering period, the plant serves as a significant nectar source, making it a valuable addition to crop rotations for apiaries. Integrating guar allows for diversified farm income without compromising primary crop productivity.

Agronomic Features

The collaboration between Russian breeders and international experts from France resulted in a variety with highly predictable phenology. Unlike wild-type counterparts, "Vavilovsky 130" displays superior crop uniformity, which is essential for efficient mechanical harvesting. The variety is technically optimized for regions experiencing precipitation deficits, where standard leguminous crops often suffer from heat stress and soil moisture depletion.
