Elena buckwheat variety is a medium-maturing variety recommended for cultivation in the Polissia and forest-steppe regions. It was registered in 2005 and developed at the Podolsk Agricultural and Technical University using family selection method. The growing period of the variety ranges from 80 to 86 days, allowing effective planning of agronomic activities and obtaining stable yields.
The variety is characterized by high yield and good adaptability to growing conditions. In 2001, on the experimental breeding station in the Nikolaev region, the yield of the variety reached 49.0 centners per hectare. Additionally, buckwheat Elena is well visited by bees, which contributes to pollination and increased productivity of crops.
The breeders of the variety are specialists at the Scientific Research Institute of Cereal Crops of the Podolsk State Agricultural and Technical Academy. The variety is resistant to radiation and has good economic indicators, making it attractive for agricultural production in appropriate climatic zones.
