Description

Sale aganyn kara is a Crimean grape variety belonging to the eco-geographic group of varieties of the Black Sea basin. This variety ripens in mid-September and is characterized by a medium ripening period. The bushes are weak-growing, with good shoot ripening and high yield. The leaves are of medium size, round, with deep or strong incision, and dense bristly-hairy pubescence on the underside. The leaf surface is finely reticulate-wrinkled, with wavy or weakly funnel-shaped plates and varying forms of the petiole notch. The flowers are perfect, which contributes to good pollination. The clusters are of medium size, cylinder-conical in shape, dense, sometimes very dense, with the possible presence of one well-developed wing. The berries are of medium size, round or slightly flattened due to the density of the cluster, dark purple or dark red-purple in color, covered with a dense bluish-waxy bloom. The flesh is juicy and melting, with a harmonious taste, while the skin is thin but sufficiently firm. The average cluster weight is about 321.5 g, and the berries are about 2.9 g. The variety is intended primarily for technical use, in particular for the production of strong and dry wines, often in blends with other varieties. The berry juice contains 19-21 g of sugar per 100 cm³ and titratable acidity of 4-5.4 g/dm³. The grape has medium resistance to fungal diseases and good winter hardiness, withstanding temperatures down to -21°C. In addition to winemaking, the variety can also be used for fresh consumption.
