REINER is a medium-late vegetable pea variety intended for shelling, canning, and fresh consumption. The period from full germination to the beginning of technical maturity is 57-71 days. The plant is characterized by a medium-long stem and leaves of the usual type, medium size, green color. Pods are straight with a blunt tip, medium length and width, green in technical maturity. The yield of green peas from pods reaches 40-50%, and the yield varies from 39 to 74 centners per hectare. The variety is resistant to fusarium and powdery mildew, which increases its reliability in cultivation. The main carbohydrate in pea seeds is starch, which consists of amylose and amylopectin. In the REINER variety, as in other vegetable pea varieties, the amylose content is genetically controlled and can exceed 70%. A high proportion of amylose contributes to the slow conversion of sugars into starch, which extends the technical maturity period of green peas. This property makes the variety particularly valuable for dietary nutrition and allows its use as a raw material for the production of biodegradable plastics and films. Studies have shown a connection between amylose content, seed size, and the number of seeds in a pod, which is important for breeding and improving variety characteristics. Thus, the REINER variety combines high yield, disease resistance, and favorable nutritional properties due to the peculiarities of the starch composition of seeds. It is suitable for various methods of use - from fresh consumption to processing and canning. These qualities make it an attractive choice for agricultural production in regions with corresponding climatic conditions.
