Legacy

Legacy blueberry is a tall shrub with strong growth, reaching up to 180-200 cm in height and about 70 cm in diameter. The leaves are elongated and dark green, while the berries are medium to medium-large in size, with dense flesh and a small calyx. The berries are distinguished by their rich aroma and excellent taste, with a weight of approximately 2 grams. The waxy coating on the fruit surface gives them an attractive appearance. Developed in the USA in 1993 as part of the USDA breeding program, it is the result of crossing the 'Elizabeth' variety with the experimental hybrid US 75. It combines characteristics of the 'Draper' and 'Earliblue' varieties and was named to mean 'Legacy'. Legacy is a late-maturing variety, with harvest beginning in mid-July to early August and continuing until the first days of August. One bush can yield 6-8 kg of sweet and aromatic berries, making this variety highly productive. Blueberry is suitable for both home and commercial cultivation, including mechanized harvesting. Although bushes grow more slowly in the first few years, they later provide a stable and abundant yield. The Legacy variety is highly resistant to various diseases, including root rot, and has good cold and drought tolerance. Due to its low-maintenance nature and adaptability, blueberry grows successfully in European countries and southern regions, but is not recommended for northern areas of Ukraine. These qualities make Legacy an attractive choice for gardeners and farmers seeking high-quality, aromatic berries with minimal care requirements.
