Gladiolus SIRAEL

Cultivation and Maintenance

The gladiolus 'Sirael' is a choice for those who value a balance of elegance and predictable growth. This Russian-bred cultivar (breeder V. A. Kolos) shows excellent performance in decorative landscape design. The plant reaches a height of 140–160 cm, requiring careful site selection: a location sheltered from strong winds will help prevent damage to the flower stalks, as the variety's weather resistance is rated as moderate.

The compact structure of the bush allows 'Sirael' to be used not only in open ground but also in container gardening. When growing in pots, it is essential to ensure quality drainage and consistent irrigation, as the limited substrate volume requires frequent moisture monitoring. One of the key features of this variety is its long blooming period, which, combined with the distinct ruffling of the lilac-pink petals, ensures high visual appeal throughout the season.

Regarding wintering: the variety has the potential to overwinter in the ground, but in regions with harsh winters and deep soil freezing, standard protection or bulb excavation for storage in a cool room is recommended. Maintenance for 'Sirael' is straightforward: timely application of complex mineral fertilizers during the budding phase allows the potential of the ruffled flowers to be fully realized.
