MAY FIRST

Gladiolus 'May First' is a tall plant with a sturdy, straight scape and medium green leaves. This variety is distinguished by very early flowering, allowing you to enjoy bright red flowers at the beginning of the season. The inflorescence of 'May First' is long and dense, consisting of 20-22 large open-form flowers, of which 7-9 bloom simultaneously. The coloration of the flowers is rich red, does not fade in the sun, and the wide elliptical perianth lobes have slight fluting, giving the flower special attractiveness.

For successful gladiolus cultivation, it is recommended to choose well-lit areas with loose and fertile soil for 'May First'. Before planting, prepare the beds by adding compost, sand, and sawdust to improve the soil structure. Bulbs are planted in spring after the last frosts, maintaining a distance of at least 10 cm between plants. It is important to avoid planting small and large bulbs together on the same bed to prevent large plants from suppressing the growth of small ones. Also, it is not recommended to grow gladioli in the same place for more than two years to maintain flower quality.

Care for gladioli of the 'May First' variety includes regular fertilization at least three times during the season, timely weed removal, and tying up tall plants to prevent damage.
