Gladiolus Iris

Genetic Potential and Morphology

The 'Irbis' gladiolus, developed by breeders at the Pryluky Research Station of the NAAS, stands as a hallmark of Ukrainian breeding, specifically categorized within the giant class. The technical value of this variety lies in the precise equilibrium between the vertical growth of the peduncle and the dense structure of the inflorescence.

Agrotechnical and Decorative Parameters

• Classification: As a giant gladiolus, the variety requires professional agrotechnical support, specifically the use of stakes to maintain the vertical integrity of the flower spike.
• Morphological profile: The variety exhibits high ornamental value due to the dense arrangement of its florets. The ruffling of the petals enhances light reflection, visually expanding the volume of the bloom.
• Application: Primarily intended for landscape design in formal flower beds. Its high adaptive capacity to the Ukrainian climate provides robust resilience against temperature fluctuations throughout the active growing season.

The 'Irbis' variety is characterized by its ability to develop a vigorous root system, which drives the intensive nutrient synthesis required to sustain such large, heavy buds. During cultivation, it is essential to manage planting density carefully to ensure optimal aeration, effectively mitigating the risk of fungal pathogens during the spike-forming phase.
