Technical Profile of the Winter Garlic "Redalium"

"Redalium" is the outcome of extensive breeding work by specialists at the Institute of Bioenergy Crops and Sugar Beet of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (NAAS) of Ukraine, led by Vitalii Horenskyi, Vasyl Mamalyha, and their colleagues. Patented by the Institute of Fodder and Agriculture of Podillia, this variety is tailored for professional cultivation within Ukrainian climatic conditions.

The primary engineering and biological objective of this variety is to balance high productivity with adaptability to mechanized harvesting. Unlike many local cultivars, this variety is a bolting type. The presence of a scape (flower stalk) is not merely a morphological trait but a key agronomic marker: such crops exhibit superior winter hardiness and produce uniform bulbs, which is critical when calibrating planting density per hectare.
