Freesia CARAMEL

Practical Insights: Growing the 'Karamel' Variety

The 'Karamel' variety, developed by the Federal Research Center for Subtropical Scientific Center (RAS), brings a level of genetic stability that simplifies production management. For any operator, whether managing a greenhouse or a field, the performance of this freesia variety is defined by its resilience and predictable growth cycle.

Operating and Maintenance Tips

• Bulb Handling: These bulbs show excellent vigor. A standard prophylactic treatment before planting is essential to ensure a clean start, especially given the variety's preference for well-drained soil.
• Managing the 'Mix': The 'Mix' color range is a massive operational advantage. It eliminates the need for separate color-coded plots during planting and harvesting. This simplifies inventory management: you are producing a diverse, aesthetically complete product ready for the market as soon as it is picked.
• Irrigation Control: The variety thrives with drip irrigation. The key to successful maintenance is moisture management—avoiding waterlogging is critical to keeping the stems upright and healthy throughout the harvest period.

Efficiency and Market Appeal

For the grower, 'Karamel' offers a balance between low maintenance and high aesthetic value. The stems hold up well after cutting, maintaining their post-harvest quality for longer periods, which reduces losses during logistics. By choosing 'Karamel', you are investing in a low-complication variety that simplifies the transition from field to florist, providing a visually rich, ready-to-sell bouquet profile right out of the box.
