Sugrob is a perennial dahlia that attracts attention with its large flowers measuring 20 to 25 cm in diameter and a vivid orange-yellow hue. The flowers feature a luxurious coloring with yellowish petal tips, and the bud reaches 10–15 cm in diameter. The plant can grow to a height of about 90–120 cm, maintaining a compact bush and upright stems.
For successful cultivation, Sugrob requires a sunny area with moderate soil moisture. It grows well in sandy, loam, or chernozem soils, provided they are well-drained and warm. Fragile stems need staking in strong winds, and shade reduces flowering quality. Waterlogging is fatal, so moderate watering is essential to prevent rhizome rot.
Sugrob is frost-hardy down to -7 °C, allowing its use in both open ground and pots for group or single plantings. It is recommended to prune tubers in spring and autumn, and to dig them up for winter storage in a cool place until the next season. This approach ensures a long plant life and vibrant flowering from July to October.
