Dahlia SPANISH DANCER

Flowering Architecture of 'Spanish Dancer'

This dahlia variety from the 'Ваше хозяйство' (Vashe Khozyaystvo) brand belongs to the cactus-flowered group, which requires a specific approach to plant formation and maintenance. Unlike decorative forms, the petals of the 'Spanish Dancer' are rolled into narrow, dense "needles" that curl toward the base. This design feature provides not only visual dynamism but also superior wind resistance—the streamlined shape of the needle-like petals allows gusts of wind to pass through the flower without damaging its delicate structure.

Technical Parameters and Adaptability

• Dimensions: The plant reaches a height of 70–100 cm, classifying it as a medium-tall variety. This ensures an optimal balance between a developed root system and the stem strength required to support massive blooms.
• Flower Geometry: A diameter of 13–20 cm classifies this as a large-flowered variety. The high petal density requires active sap flow during the budding stage to maintain turgor.
• Container Potential: Due to its balanced height, the 'Spanish Dancer' adapts perfectly to limited substrate volumes. When grown in containers, a proper drainage layer is essential, as intensive vegetation requires high root zone aeration.

In open ground, this variety serves as a focal point for floral arrangements. Group planting with 40–50 cm spacing is recommended to create a dense decorative array, with the lush foliage protecting the soil from overheating. The plant responds well to potassium-based fertilizers, which strengthen the stem structure necessary to support the heavy, large cactus-type blooms.
