Brazilian Carnival is a bright annual plant that attracts attention with its large and double inflorescence. Bushes reach a height of 80 to 130 cm, while flowers with a diameter of 20–25 cm, featuring lobe petals, form tubular spheres in shades of orange-red with a bright yellow center. Blooming lasts from July until the first frost and can repeat several times, creating a rich and prolonged floral mass.
For cultivation, it is recommended to plant tubers or seedlings in March–April (in a greenhouse) or at the beginning of spring in open soil. Seeds are best planted in a peat and sand mixture (ratio 3:1), and at a soil temperature of +18 °C, seedlings appear within 7–14 days. After the appearance of two true leaves, pricking out is conducted, and after the end of spring frosts, transplanting to a permanent location. Plants prefer sunny and wind-protected areas, require abundant watering and regular fertilization.
Brazilian Carnival is valued for both garden group plantings and for cut flowers: flower stalks retain freshness for 5–7 days, and sturdy stems do not require tying. With proper care, bushes branch out, and fading stems are removed in a timely manner, which promotes further abundant flowering. This plant will become a bright accent of any garden or flower bed thanks to its saturated color and prolonged blooming period.
