Chimera – a medium-height begonia cultivar with large inflorescences ranging from 8 to 10 cm in diameter. The plant forms upright, branched bushes about 50–60 cm tall, where numerous flower stalks create a dense and vibrant fullness.
The chimera begonia inflorescences feature ruffled coloration: purple-red with pink tones, reminiscent of rosy shades. Blooming is long-lasting – from June until the first autumn frosts. To maintain flowering intensity, it is recommended to remove withered inflorescences, which extends the period of bright display.
Chimeras possess a unique leaf and flower coloration that is not transmitted during leaf propagation, but appears only when grown from suckers or flower stalks. In 80–90% of cases, the characteristic chimera coloration is preserved, making each plant unique. Cut inflorescences remain decorative for approximately two weeks, providing prolonged enjoyment of their beauty.
