Cucumber TSXA 4048

Cucumber TSXA 4048 F1 is a first-generation parthenocarpic hybrid developed at the Vegetable Experimental Station named after V.I. Edelstein. Plants are vigorous with loose crowns and self-regulating branching; the main vine reaches over 4 meters in length. Leaves are large, dark green, pentagonal-heart-shaped with sparse white hairs. Fruits are cylindrical, 30–40 cm long and weighing from 266 to 305 grams, with a bumpy surface and smooth base. The flavor of fresh cucumbers is highly rated, and fruits are versatile for use fresh, pickling, or marinating.

The hybrid has a medium-early maturity period — 45 to 48 days from emergence to fruiting. Yield is high: marketable fruits yield approximately 5.6 kg per square meter, exceeding standard hybrids. In the first month of fruiting, yield reaches 3.9 kg per square meter. The hybrid exhibits uniform fruiting and good tolerance to fluctuations in light intensity, making it suitable for cultivation in open fields and polyethylene greenhouses.

TSXA 4048 has good cold resistance and comprehensive resistance to major cucumber diseases, but it shows low resistance to root rot, ascochytosis, and fusarium wilt. Fruits are non-bitter, tender in taste, and form 3–4 fruits per leaf axil, contributing to high yield and product quality.
