Description SEMENOVNA
Cucumber variety Semёnovna is an early-maturing parthenocarpic hybrid with predominantly female flowering, suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under plastic covers. The plant features a cluster-type fruit set, forming several fruits per node, which contributes to high yield. The cucumbers have a cylindrical shape, large bumps, and white spines, measuring 7-9 cm in length and 75-90 g in weight; they are crisp, aromatic, free of bitterness, and lack hollows. Due to these qualities, the cucumbers are suitable for harvesting pickles 4-6 cm long, as well as for fresh consumption, pickling, and preservation.

Semёnovna is characterized by stable and abundant fruiting, as well as high resistance to sharp temperature fluctuations, false powdery mildew, and cucumber mosaic virus. These traits make the hybrid a reliable choice for cultivation under various climatic conditions. The plant maintains the density and crispness of fruits even after salting, which is an important advantage for preservation.

Cultivation techniques include sowing seedlings in early May at a depth of 0.5-1 cm, followed by transplanting 15-20-day-old seedlings at the end of May according to a 30x40 cm scheme. Direct sowing into open ground can be done at the end of May – beginning of June at a depth of 1-2 cm. For optimal growth, it is recommended to water with warm water, perform surface soil loosening without damaging roots, and apply regular organic and mineral fertilizers every 7-10 days. The first feeding is conducted two weeks after transplanting seedlings. Protective measures against diseases and pests may be applied as needed. Seeds retain biological viability when stored properly for up to 8 years.
