Cucumber QUINTON

Professional greenhouse production with Quinton

The Quinton cucumber hybrid by Rijk Zwaan is engineered for high-performance glasshouse operations. Growers choose this variety when the primary objective is to maintain a predictable output and high quality throughout the season, regardless of typical greenhouse-related disease pressures.

Disease management and agronomy

The standout feature of Quinton is its inherent genetic resistance to Cladosporium and powdery mildew. In a professional setting, this represents a significant operational advantage: it reduces the necessity for frequent chemical applications. This not only lowers input costs but also simplifies compliance with stringent food safety and residue standards required by large retail chains.

Marketability and post-harvest performance

• 9–10 cm fruit length: Perfectly suited for standard retail trays and consistent portioning.
• Fine-wart skin texture: Gives the produce the premium, crunchy look consumers associate with high-quality cucumbers.
• Firm structure: Designed to withstand the rigors of modern supply chains, maintaining its shelf-life and crispness from the greenhouse to the supermarket shelf.

For optimal results, Quinton performs best under balanced fertility programs and consistent climate control characteristic of modern glasshouse facilities. By maintaining a steady vegetative-generative balance, producers can leverage Quinton’s uniform maturity to streamline harvesting operations and improve operational efficiency.
