Description

Cucumber 'Malutka' is an early, fast-maturing variety that ripens on average in 40-45 days from germination. The plant is compact, with a main stem height of up to 40-45 cm and limited lateral branching. The cucumbers have a dark green color with fine or medium ribbed skin, length of 9-12 cm, and weight of 80-130 grams. The fruits are cylindrical, crisp, and aromatic, with a small seed cavity, making them versatile for fresh consumption as well as ideal for pickling and marinating. The variety is highly resistant to common diseases such as downy mildew, false downy mildew, olive spot, root rot, and cucumber mosaic virus. Due to this, cucumber 'Malutka' is well-suited for cultivation in both open ground and protected environments. The plant forms a cluster of 2-4 fruits per node, contributing to high yield — up to 12.9 kg per square meter. The fruits are not prone to overgrowth, do not become bitter, and do not yellow, maintaining their market appearance for a long time. Cucumber 'Malutka' can be grown from seedlings, with sowing recommended in late April to early May, followed by transplanting into the soil at the two- to three-true-leaf stage under temporary plastic coverings. Direct sowing into open ground is also possible in late May to early June, with an optimal planting scheme of 50x50 cm. This variety is excellent for home gardening and commercial cultivation, providing a stable and high-quality harvest.
