Description

Cucumber variety Erica is a mid-early hybrid with a vegetative period of about 44-45 days. The plant is indeterminate type, predominantly female-flowering, which ensures high fruit set. The cucumbers are cylindrical, reaching 10-12 cm in length and weighing 75 to 120 grams depending on growing conditions. The fruit surface is large-warty with black and brownish spines, giving them a distinctive appearance. The flesh is crisp and dense with high flavor qualities, making them ideal for fresh consumption as well as for pickling and preservation.

Hybrid Erica is characterized by high resistance to major cucumber diseases such as downy mildew, bacterial wilt, true powdery mildew, as well as relative resistance to false powdery mildew and root rots. This trait is especially important for humid regions with a higher risk of fungal diseases, contributing to stable and high yields. The yield of this variety is 35 to 40 tons per hectare, and each plant can produce up to 6-7 kilograms of fruit.

Erica variety is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in protected conditions such as greenhouses. Sowing should be done in late April to early May, followed by transplanting into the ground when the plant has two to three true leaves, in late May to early June. The optimal planting scheme is 50x50 cm. Due to its characteristics and resistance to diseases, this hybrid is an excellent choice for farmers and gardeners aiming to obtain high-quality and flavorful cucumber harvests.
