Bjorn

Bjorn F1 is a high-yielding parthenocarpic hybrid of the cornichon type, developed by the Dutch seed company Enza Zaden. Plants of this variety are generative with short internodes, ensuring compactness and ease of care. The fruits are cylindrical, 10-12 cm long and weighing 100-120 grams, with a vibrant green color without white stripes and covered with large bumps along their entire length. A distinguishing feature of the variety is the stable formation of 2-5 fruits per axil, contributing to high yield and even fruiting throughout the entire fruiting period.

The Bjorn hybrid exhibits high resistance to powdery mildew and cucumber mosaic virus, as well as stress tolerance to temperature fluctuations and insufficient light. This enables the plant to retain fruit set and not drop fruits even under unfavorable growing conditions. The variety tolerates hot summer conditions well, maintaining high fruit quality and bumpiness. Due to its high storability and excellent transportability, Bjorn cucumbers are suitable for long-distance transportation without loss of market appearance.

It is recommended to grow Bjorn cucumber in the first and second cropping cycles in polyethylene, glass, and polycarbonate greenhouses. The early vegetative period is 37-39 days, allowing for early harvest. The variety produces the majority of its yield on the main stem, while suckers develop slowly, simplifying plant care. High overall and early yield, excellent fruit flavor with a small seed cavity make this hybrid popular among producers and consumers.
