Common cranberry, "Somin" variety – one of the most demanded options for commercial cultivation due to high yield and large berries. Berries reach a diameter of about 14.5 mm and a weight from 1.32 to 2.84 g, which makes them noticeably larger than standard varieties. Sugar content is approximately 7.1%, and berries retain juiciness and bright red color even at the end of the season.
The variety ripens in early September (end of the third decade of August), which allows planning the harvest without crossing with earlier varieties. Leaves are large, elongated-ovate, and shoots rise at an angle of about 25°, creating a dense and stable bush structure. Due to good berry storability, they are suitable for fresh consumption as well as for processing into juices, jams, or canned goods.
"Somin" has moderate winter hardiness: under snow it withstands frosts up to -33°C, which ensures stable growth even in cold regions. Disease resistance is average, however, high yield and large berries make this variety attractive for farmers seeking to maximize output at minimal care costs.
