SAZONOVSKAYA

The "Sazonovskaya" cranberry variety belongs to the common cranberry species and is distinguished by its bright purple-red fruit color, with a diameter of 12–13 mm. The berries are of medium size, featuring a bumpy and slightly ribbed surface; they have a heart-shaped form and a juicy taste that combines sweetness with a slight acidity – sugar content is about 8.1%, and acidity is 3.0%. The berries contain vitamin C (23 mg/100 g) and a large amount of anthocyanins, making them a valuable source of antioxidants.

The "Sazonovskaya" culture ripens in the first decade of September, which allows for planning harvest collection at an optimal time. Yields reach up to 1.3 kg/m² (or 0.9–2 kg/sq.m), while the fruits maintain good shelf-life after harvesting and are suitable for both fresh consumption and processing into juices, jams, and canned goods. The bushes are of medium height, shoots are of medium length (about 70 mm) growing at an angle of approximately 55°, and leaves are medium-sized, elongated-ovate with a smooth leathery surface.

The variety is characterized by resistance to low temperatures down to -30 °C and tolerates snow cover well. Successful cultivation requires peat soils of bog or transitional bog types, with an optimal groundwater level of 30 cm. "Sazonovskaya" does not require complex agrotechnology: the absence of thorns on shoots and moderate planting density allow for easy plant care, and its resistance to snow mold makes the culture suitable for northern regions.
