Cranberry SLAVYANKA

Russian breeding for the fresh market

The 'Slavyanka' cranberry variety is the result of work by specialists from the VNIILM Federal Budgetary Institution and the Krem breeders. This variety was developed to meet the demand for high-quality berries specifically for the fresh produce market. Unlike technical varieties intended for long-term processing, 'Slavyanka' focuses on visual appeal and culinary quality.

Visual and quality characteristics

A key feature of the variety is the rich burgundy color of the berries, which makes them stand out on the shelf and attracts the end consumer. The berries have a firm skin, a critical factor for logistics: the harvest withstands transportation well without losing shape or marketability. The stability of these characteristics makes the variety highly sought after in professional farming, where not only yield but also shelf-life and appearance after harvest are paramount.

The role of 'Slavyanka' in the berry industry

Today, 'Slavyanka' occupies a solid niche among crops adapted to the climatic conditions of Russia. The originators focused not only on the aesthetics of the fruit but also on the plant's resilience. Using this variety allows farmers to enter the market with premium-class produce capable of competing with imported alternatives. It is the choice of those who prioritize the sale of fresh berries, bypassing the stages of deep freezing or industrial processing.
