Siamia – an annual plant from the borage family, which grows quickly and delights the eye with bright flowers of various shades: yellow, white, pink, lavender, and blue. The height of the inflorescences ranges from 30 to 90 cm, the diameter of the heads is from 3 to 12 cm, and the leaves are long and linear, covered with fine hairs. The plant has a pleasant aroma, which intensifies in hot weather with regular watering.
Siamia is easy to grow both in open ground and in pots. Seeds can be sown from March when the soil warms up, or in spring and autumn – the plant is not afraid of moderate frosts. For optimal growth, loose, neutral, well-drained soil is recommended; if necessary, add compost or manure. Watering should be moderate: during periods of heat, it is necessary to water more abundantly, and on cool days – reduce the amount of water.
Flowering lasts from June to October (or until August if talking about the blue variety), which makes Siamia an excellent choice for alpine slides, rabatok, group plantings, and flower beds. Thanks to the long period of freshness preservation in bouquets, the plant is often used as a decorative element in living compositions. To maintain the density of flowering, it is recommended to remove faded inflorescences and thin seedlings at a distance of 15–20 cm from each other.
