The "Emily" green basil variety is a high-quality type grown by Enza Zaden from the Netherlands. It features a rich, strongly pronounced green aroma and dark green, medium-sized, slightly elongated and convex leaves. The plant forms a compact structure with short internodes, making it suitable for growing in open ground, protected environments, containers, and hanging baskets.
For all-season cultivation of "Emily", seedling propagation is recommended: sow seeds in trays or small pots, transplant after the first pair of true leaves appears, transplant to the depth where it grew before transplanting. After hardening seedlings outdoors at temperatures from 5 °C to 10 °C, plant them in a permanent location with a spacing of 30 × 25 cm and a soil temperature of approximately 15 °C. Regular watering, soil loosening, and preventing over-drying promote rapid green mass growth.
Basil "Emily" is not prone to overgrowth, allowing it to maintain an attractive marketable appearance for a long time. Leaves can be used as fresh herbs or for preparing various dishes – from sauces to salads. Due to its bright aroma and resistance to external condition changes, this variety is ideal for both home growing and commercial production.
