Centaurea cyanus 'Rosy Ball' is an annual plant, ideally suited for decorating garden flowerbeds and creating flowering lawns. The plant is undemanding: it tolerates heat and drought well, is resistant to unfavorable weather, however, it is not recommended to grow it on plots with wet or too acidic soil. Bushes reach a height of 30 to 80 cm, and each shoot ends with buds with full, airy flowers of dense pink color with a diameter of about 3–4 cm.
Centaurea seeds can be sown in the ground from late April to May. It is important to ensure that weak seedlings will no longer be subjected to frost. The plant grows wonderfully even in flowerbeds with poor soil and does not require fertilizers; on dry soil, watering is recommended for a longer flowering period. Centaureas attract insects and butterflies due to the large amount of nectar.
For use as cut flowers, it is important to follow simple care rules: cut stems at a 45-degree angle, change the water every two to three days, and store in a cool place without direct sunlight. Due to its undemanding nature and beautiful appearance, Centaurea 'Rosy Ball' will be an excellent choice both for decorative flowerbeds and for creating live bouquets.
