NS 101 is a mid-early maturing corn hybrid with FAO 280, intended for grain and silage production. It has a maturity period of about 110–112 days and a 1000-grain weight of 380–390 g. The ear of NS 101 is cylindrical, up to 30 cm long, with 14–16 rows of yellow kernels. Plants reach a height of 230–245 cm, possess a strong root system and flexible stems, ensuring resistance to lodging and adverse weather conditions. The hybrid was developed by Serbian selection and has been registered in Ukraine since 2001. NS 101 exhibits high resistance to a range of common corn diseases, including fusarium, common smut, and pest damage, as well as good drought tolerance. These traits ensure stable yields across virtually the entire territory of Ukraine. The potential yield of the hybrid reaches 11 t/ha, while in practice it averages around 9 t/ha. Plants can form up to two ears with adequate mineral nutrition, further enhancing productivity. The optimal planting density depends on the climatic zone: in the steppe region, 60–65 thousand plants per hectare are recommended; in the forest-steppe region — 70–80 thousand; and in the Polissia region — up to 80 thousand plants per hectare. The hybrid adapts well to various soil-climate conditions, particularly in the Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Kirovohrad, and Zaporizhzhia regions. Additionally, NS 101 is suitable for cultivation as a succeeding crop after cereal and vegetable crops, as well as for silage production with a yield of approximately 500 centners per hectare.
