Maize P8604

Working with Corteva P8604

When planning a planting season, predictability is the top priority. The P8604 hybrid from Corteva has proven to be a reliable workhorse, especially in operations where early maturity is essential. With an FAO rating of 90–1240 and a maturity period of 90–100 days, this variety fits perfectly into schedules for farms aiming to clear fields as early as possible.

Field performance and agronomy

The dent-type grain ensures excellent moisture dry-down, which is critical for reducing drying costs. Follow a standard approach: for optimal results, seeding density should range between 65,000 and 75,000 plants per hectare. Under our conditions, this provides the best balance between cob development and stalk integrity.

Protection and resistance

Fungal diseases are a constant concern for corn growers. P8604 demonstrates enviable resistance to common corn smut. In practice, this means lower fungicide costs and confidence in crop security, even in seasons with high humidity during the mid-growth stages.

• Hybrid type: Simple (consistent yield potential);
• Maturity: 90–100 days;
• Recommended density: 65,000–75,000 plants/ha;
• Key benefit: High disease resistance.

For a grower, P8604 offers predictable results with straightforward agronomy. It is one of those hybrids that remains forgiving if planting dates shift slightly, while maintaining high grain quality at harvest.
