Corn hybrid RAM 8663 is a simple modified mid-season hybrid with FAO maturity group 340, intended for grain and silage production in steppe, forest-steppe zones, and the Polissia region. Plants reach a height of 250-280 cm, do not bush, and have 16-17 leaves on the main stem. The ear is conical-cylindrical in shape, 23-27 cm long, attached at a height of 70-80 cm, with 14-16 rows of kernels containing 36-40 kernels per row. The kernels are yellow-orange, dent type, with a 1000-kernel weight of approximately 260-310 g.
The hybrid exhibits high resistance to lodging and stem breakage, as well as to major infectious diseases and pests, confirmed by resistance ratings on a 9-point scale: lodging and drought resistance – 9 points, pest and disease infestation – 8 points. RAM 8663 has high drought tolerance and effectively absorbs mineral and organic fertilizers, contributing to significantly increased yields.
The hybrid yields 13-14 t/ha of dry grain (130-145 c/ha) and 600-650 c/ha of silage. Grain yield is 82%, starch content in the grain – 72.1%, protein – 8%. The recommended pre-harvest plant density varies depending on the cultivation zone: for steppe – 40-55 thousand/ha, forest-steppe – 55-65 thousand/ha, Polissia – 65-70 thousand/ha. The seed developer is LLC "NI Institute of Agricultural Business", and the manufacturer is the company "Stepova".
