ODYSSEY 340 SV — a mid-season corn hybrid intended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region. This double-cross hybrid is characterized by high yield and rapid grain drying after milk stage, ensuring efficient harvest. The plant is tall with wide leaves, ears are long, thick, and cylindrical, with a high number of rows of dent-type kernels. The kernels have an orange upper part and yellow-orange lower part, and the ear stalk exhibits strong anthocyanin coloring. The vegetation period is approximately 121 days, slightly shorter than the standard for the region. The hybrid has high drought resistance and strong stalks, which is especially important for cultivation under drought and delayed planting conditions. The ear is firmly held on a strong stalk, protecting the kernels from rain damage. Recommended planting density varies depending on conditions: in dry areas — 50-60 thousand plants per hectare, in favorable areas — up to 70 thousand. Thanks to these characteristics, ODYSSEY 340 SV ensures a stable and high yield even under challenging climatic conditions. Additionally, the hybrid exhibits easy threshing and moderate resistance to diseases such as stalk rot, as well as low damage from corn borer. Average grain yield in the region reaches 57.1 centners per hectare, and silage yield may reach up to 127.1 centners per hectare. Grain moisture at harvest is typically around 21.3%, which contributes to maintaining quality and reducing drying costs.
