The hybrid corn NS 2642 is a high-yielding, simple hybrid developed based on a fertile maternal line. Its developer is the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad (Serbia). This hybrid is characterized by a FAO vegetation period of 280, enabling it to successfully grow under various climatic conditions and ensuring a stable yield.
Plants of the NS 2642 hybrid reach a height of 250 to 300 cm and exhibit high drought resistance and very high resistance to lodging, significantly reducing the risk of yield loss. The ear has a cylindrical shape, approximately 30 cm long, containing 14-16 rows of kernels. The 1000-kernel weight ranges from 350 to 400 g, and the kernels are yellow, dent-type, which is an important indicator for further use and processing.
The genetic yield potential of this hybrid reaches up to 150 ц/ha, while it demonstrates good water use efficiency, facilitating harvesting and storage. The recommended planting density at harvest varies by region: for forest-steppe — 60-55 thousand plants per hectare, for central steppe — 55-50 thousand, for southern and dry steppe — 50-45 thousand plants per hectare. All these characteristics make NS 2642 a reliable choice for agricultural producers aiming to obtain a high-quality corn yield.
